Cooking With The Kids

I know many of the children in Canada are on March Break this week. Our break isn't until the last week in March so I'm still looking for fun and educational ways to fill the days that we aren't busy. Cooking with kids is a great way to keep the learning going while school is out. It not only teaches a basic life skill but also math, chemistry, measurement and trial and error. Not to mention cooking is also fun and you get to eat the results!

My kids love to help in the kitchen and March Break is a perfect time to get them involved. I've been looking around the Life Made Delicious website for some easy recipes for kids and have found some great ones.

Oven-Fried Chicken Tenders are fun to make because you get to coat and dip the chicken in mixtures. My kids can't get enough of that! Note: This one can get messy!

Pizza is always a fun recipe to make with kids. Who doesn't love choosing your own toppings, spreading your sauce and adding extra cheese? If you need a little inspiration to spice your pizza up a bit why not try Easy Taco Pizza.

I know Rainbow Whoopie Pies will be a hit because my kids love using food colouring! This recipe involves plenty of measuring and assembling and the result looks very cool.

Of course, sometimes it's fun not to follow a recipe. Kids are always full of ideas and unique flavour combinations so it might be fun to spend a day creating a signature family recipe. Will you be cooking with your kids over March Break?

I've been thinking it's time for my son to learn a few basics about cooking. We might just try the chicken tenders, thanks!
