Paving the Way To A Bright Future #RESPWithRBC

I was quite young when I became a first time mom and we certainly weren't as established financially as we wanted to be when we welcomed our son into the world. When we were approached about starting an education savings plan for our son, I couldn't even imagine it was a possibility. I agreed to meet with the rep but had no intentions of signing up. There were just too many reasons not to - we didn't have much extra money...there were going to be even more expenses with the new baby...we had never invested before...I wasn't even working!

Thankfully, the rep we met with understood our position and had just as many reasons why we could and should start an RESP. We could start by just depositing a tiny amount each month to get started...the small amount would add up and grow over the next 18 years...the government would kick in some extra money to boost the account...and most importantly, we would be paving the way to a bright future for our little monkey!

Today, that same little monkey isn't so little anymore. He's just days away from starting high school and that post-secondary education, that once seemed so far away, is fast approaching. I can't even express how thankful I am that we had that meeting with an RBC rep 15 years ago and were presented with a solution that worked for us. Over the years, we have been able to make larger contributions as our financial situation improved and our family grew. That's one of the great things about RESPs, there is so much flexibility!

RBC has all the information you need to make the right choices when it comes to RESPs. Their website is a great resource for information and I've highlighted some of the benefits below:

You can decide how much you want to contribute - As little as $25/week can add up to over $50,000 in 18 years!

You decide how often you want to contribute - Weekly, monthly, annually, you decide!

You can have an account for an individual or set up a family account - Accounts can be set up for your children, grandchildren or even friends

You can set up automatic contributions - Have your money automatically come out of your bank account so you never forget.

Free money! - There are several government grants available to help boost your savings. Check out all the incentives HERE

It's free to open an account - RBC does not charge to set up an account and there's no annual administration fees.

I love when my kids talk about their future hopes and aspirations. So far, I have a conservation officer, a mechanic and a musician on my hands. I want them to be able to pursue anything they can dream of and their RESPs will definitely make that a little bit easier. We spend 18 years preparing our kids to head out into the world and an RESP is one more step we can all take to give them the best start possible.

Packing An Efficient Diaper Bag with #LittleMoversPlus

When you have a baby, leaving the house can seem like such a chore! There are just so many items you feel like you may need while you're out. You and the baby have to get out and about  but you can't pack the whole nursery into your diaper bag so you have two options - lug around a diaper bag that weighs more than your baby or pare it down to just the essentials.
Over the years, I've learned that an efficient diaper bag is one with items that can serve double (or triple) duty. Here's what I pack in my diaper bag:

Receiving blankets - These are thin so thry take up very little room. They can easily serve as blankets, burp cloths, a changing pad or a sunshade.

Wipes - Wet wipes are so handy! Besides wiping bums, they are perfect for cleaning up dirty hands or faces, can be used to wipe down germy carts and a cool wipe on baby's forehead can help cool them down on hot days. Huggies Natural Care Plus wipes are my favorite because they are so soft and thick.

Diapers - Huggies Little Movers Plus are my preferred diaper because they are incredibly soft and so absorbent. In fact, they are Huggies most absorbent diaper! I also love that they stay in place so well because of the Double Grip Strips. These diapers are only available at Costco in sizes 3-6. Huggies Little Snugglers Plus are available in sizes 1-2 and offer the same level of absorbency and softness. Check out my video at the end of this post for an up close view of why I love these diapers.

A change of clothes - Babies are messy. At some point you will need a change for them and you should probably throw in an extra shirt for yourself as well.

A Hat - Obviously for sun protection but a hat can also be a great distraction when the baby gets fussy while shopping.

Diaper Cream - There's nothing worse than a diaper rash so we need to use cream at every diaper change.

Sunscreen - You need to keep reapplying when you are out. Remember to protect yourself too, not just the baby.

Baggies - These will come in handy for keeping soiled diapers and wipes sealed away from other items and they eliminate the smell. I keep my sunscreen and diaper cream in a baggie as well, just in case they leak.

Toy/Teether - I pack a toy that also acts as a teether.

There you have it, a lightweight diaper bag that will have you well prepared without going overboard.

Check out the video below to see why the only diapers you'll find in my bag are Huggies Little Movers Plus!

The story is about an alien outcast and a human girl who learn to depend on one another when they have no one else. This heartwarming story is now available for you to bring home and watch again and again.

HOME is a sweet movie with likeable characters and some good life lessons. I was really impressed with the voice talent. Jim Parsons could not have been more perfectly cast as the main character, Oh. Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez add great depth to their characters and I love that they sing in the movie as well. And Steve Martin is hilarious (as always) as Captain Smek. The movie does get a bit silly at times but that's part of the charm.

Fueling Up to Stay Active With Vector {Review/Giveaway}

With summer in full swing, my family loves to get outside and enjoy ourselves. We can often be found riding our bikes, jumping on our trampoline, fishing at the lake and exploring hiking trails. In a family of active boys, there's always new adventures to be had! Of course, with all that activity comes the need to keep our bodies fueled up so I was excited to hear that Kellogg's has expanded it's line of Vector products to include Vector Granola Honey Almond Flavour.
Vector products are designed to help meet the nutritional needs of active people and this new granola certainly does just that. It is packed with vitamins, minerals, fibre and 20 grams of protein making it a great choice to keep you going. It also happens to taste amazing!
The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was the aroma...this granola smells incredible! The oats are crisp and flaky and honey adds just the right amount of sweetness to the whole almonds making it a delicious, hearty snack. My favorite way to enjoy this is in a bowl with milk and blueberries but it is also so good right out of the bag. The resealable pouch keeps the product fresh and is perfect for taking with you on the go.

I was lucky enough to get to try out the entire line of Vector products and am loving them all. The line includes Vector Meal Replacement, Vector Protein Chewy Bars in Mixed Nut and Peanut, Vector Energy Bars in Chocolate Chip and Berry Burst and of course the Vector Granola Honey Almond Flavour. I highly recommend you pick some up next time you're at the store.
Kellogg's has offered me the chance to give away an awesome prize pack to one lucky Canadian reader so they have the chance to try the whole line as well! Enter below for your chance to win. All entries are optional so do as many or as few as you want and be sure to come back for your one click daily entry.

Little Snuggler or Little Mover? Huggies Has You Covered!

Over the years, I've changed a lot of diapers and the biggest thing I've learned is that not all diapers are created equally. The choice of what you wrap your little ones buns in can really make a difference in how your days go.

There are several factors that are important when choosing which diaper to use. For me, I look for comfort, absorbency and the number of diapers in the package. Thankfully, Huggies and Costco have teamed up to offer my ideal combination in one amazing diaper!
Introducing Huggies® Little Snugglers Plus and Huggies® Little Movers Plus diapers - the newest and most premium diapers on the market, available exclusively at Costco. Little Snugglers Plus provide soft coziness for younger babies while Little Movers Plus offer great fit for active older babies and toddlers. I have been trying out the Little Movers Plus and am absolutely loving them!

The thing that excites me most about these new diapers is the superior level of comfort they offer. In the world of diapers, comfort starts with absorbency and these diapers are so absorbent! The super-soft, rippled DryTouch Liner really draws wetness in and away from the baby's skin. In fact, these are Huggies most absorbent diapers!* I definitely think this liner is the reason leaks and rashes have become a thing of the past for us since switching to Little Movers.
Another key to comfort is stretch. The waistband and the area around the legs have lots of stretch to create a perfect fit that is snug but not too tight. The waist band also features Double Grip Strips which hold the diaper closed in two places on each side so even with an active toddler, that diaper is staying securely in place. You know that dreaded day when your baby discovers they can undo their own diapers? This feature also helps push that day further into the future.
One more thing I love about Huggies® Little Movers Plus diapers is the size of the box. There's nearly 200 diapers in the Size 4 package meaning fewer trips to the store and peace of mind knowing I'm well stocked for weeks.
Huggies Little Snugglers Plus and Huggies Little Movers Plus are exclusively available at Costco in sizes 1-6 and feature adorable Mickey Mouse themed designs. Grab a box today and check out all the new features for yourself!
